Important Notice for DIY Buyers (Please Read Carefully)
1. Battery Requirements
Must use flat-top 18650 batteries (65mm in length). Button-top batteries are not compatible.
Do not mix old batteries: Avoid using mismatched batteries (different brands, capacities, or recycled cells).
Voltage requirement: Each battery must have a minimum voltage of 3.5V—if too low, charging may not start.
Compatible batteries: You may also use lithium batteries from phones/tablets (if properly connected).
2. Why Does Charging Stop After a Few Seconds?
Missing protection circuit: If even one battery lacks a protection board, charging will automatically shut off.
3. Identifying Battery Polarity
18650 Battery:
Flat end → Negative (–) terminal
Raised end (with vent holes) → Positive (+) terminal
Warning: Reversing polarity will instantly damage the circuit board, rendering it unusable even if corrected!
4. No Power Output After Installation?
Activation required: After inserting the battery, connect a 5V charger to activate the module.
5. Efficiency (Conversion Rate)
New, fully-rated batteries: ~80% efficiency (accounting for wire losses).
Old/mixed batteries: Efficiency varies—capacity and internal resistance degrade over time.
Note: Recycled batteries often have inconsistent performance, making accurate efficiency claims impossible.
6. Troubleshooting Charging Issues
(1) Sudden Charging Stop/Auto Shutdown
Causes:
High internal resistance in old batteries (requires professional testing).
Poor-quality charging cables or insufficient current (use a 5V/2.1A charger for loads >1A).
Solution: Replace with new batteries or use high-quality cables.
(2) Stuck at 99% Charge
New batteries: Fully discharge (e.g., by powering a phone until shutdown) before the first full charge.
Old batteries: If still stuck after discharge, the battery may be degraded—replacement is recommended.
(3) Inaccurate Battery Percentage (e.g., 50% shown as 80%)
Calibration method:
After first installation, discharge the battery completely.
Recharge fully to recalibrate the display.
All digital power banks require this step!
